How The Story Goes by *Rynn21:iconRynn21:

The silence was deafening...
She began the dance. And as she spun, making each circuit flawlessly, she felt like crying. However, Lulu's voice from the past echoed in her mind.
"Next time, no tears okay?"
Yuna refused to break her silent promise not to cry at another sending, no matter the circumstances. So the young high summoner put on a brave face, composed herself, and continued the last sending of her life.
As she twirled, staff in hand, Yuna could see in the corner of her eye, all the aeons, and the fayths, as they were disbanded for the final time. The last to fade away was her favorite aeon, Valefor, the first aeon she ever received.
'Is there no other way? No, this HAS to be done. It MUST be done...'
(Unseen to Yuna, at Mt. Gagazet, the fayths' living monuments were turning back to stone, and the dream was finally ending...each droplet of a subconscious dream was evaporating - including Tidus's dream)

Yuna finally stopped, drawing her hands in the yevon prayer to wish the fayths' luck on their journey to the farplane.
When she drew her head up with a sigh, that was when she noticed him. Tidus was fading away...
He looked at his hands in awe and shock, becoming transparent, then looked at her.
She cried out in an almost inaudible whisper, "No..."
"Yuna, I have to go." Tidus said, trying to stay strong and certain, for her at least.
She shook her head in refusal (as if that could stop it all from happening).
Tidus tried to apologize, "I'm sorry I couldn't show you Zanarkand."
He looked at Wakka, and all the guardians he'd traveled with, then at Yuna, and started to walk away.
Yuna followed him with her eyes, but she stood frozen, rooted to the spot.
Tidus stopped in his stride, and hesitated. Looking at them all one last time, Yuna the most, he faltered. "Goodbye."
With that he hurriedly walked away towards the end of the airship.
Everyone was in shock, but Rikku was the one who spoke up.
"We're going to see you again?!"

Yuna turned finally, completely in defeat, watching him walk out of her life.
'No...don't go...come back...!'
With weary eyes, she finally broke through her emotions and ran towards Tidus.
He turned in shock when he heard Kimhari call Yuna back.
He quickly spread his arms out to catch her.
With a gasp Yuna ran through Tidus, hitting the ground hard on the other side.
Everyone behind them cried out and stepped forward in shock and worry.
Behind her, Tidus was quickly fading away, the pyreflies leaving his form.
Underneath the ship, a single pyrefly floated up through the metal and passed upward in front of Yuna's eyes.
'No...this is happening too fast...the dream...is ending...I only have this last chance. I may never see him again...'

Strong-willed as she was, Yuna determinedly stood up, eyes gazing towards the farplane's glowing mist.
Taking a deep breath, she blinked her eyes, and mouthed three last words, "I love you."
Yuna pulled her head down, too tired now from pain to look up again.
Tidus drew his head up, and quickly turned back around to face her.
He looked with despairing eyes at the back of Yuna's figure.
There was nothing but silence now.

Then suddenly, she felt Tidus's presence come up right behind her.
With her eyes opening wide in surprise, Tidus used the last of his strength as a human, and not as a dream, to wrap his arms around his love.
They stayed there with the seconds ticking away.

Yuna could have sworn that she heard Tidus whisper into her ear, "Save your tears 'cause I'll come back," as he pulled his arms away, turning into the dream itself, and walking through her towards the golden mist.
Yuna stared at him, watching as he went away, with tears upon her eyes.
Tidus ran for the end of the airship and jumped into the heavens.
And as he faded away, he passed by Lord Braska, Auron, and finally met his father, which whom he high-fived in victory of the vanquish of Sin, and the end of the fayths' dream.

------
A week had passed, with the preparations for the speech Yuna was expected to give that day, along with the work the people of Spira had done cleaning up the trouble Sin had caused.
Buildings were still be reconstructed, which would take over a year to fully repair. Other summoners had sent all of the dead, them all knowing full well that Yuna wouldn't send again. She had done enough.
The skies were painted with the pyreflies of the fallen.

And as Yuna stood on the end of a pier in Luca, gazing at the ocean, she whistled perfectly, just like Tidus had taught her how to do so many days ago.

Lulu walked down the pier towards her as she stopped calling out to Tidus.
"Yuna, it's time."
As Lulu headed back towards the crowd in the stadium, Yuna stared towards the horizon line, wishing Tidus would return.
As the wind blew her brunette hair across her face, she turned towards the Luca Stadium, and began to run to not keep the people of Spira waiting.

Once inside, the guardians beckoned her to her place in the stands.
When the people saw her, they began to cheer and talk amongst themselves excitedly.

Yuna bowed her head, zoning out into her thoughts to find the right words to say.
She looked out at the crowd, inspired as to what to tell them.

"Everyone..." The crowd quieted.
"Everyone has lost something precious. Everyone here has lost homes, dreams, and friends.
Everybody..." Wanting to cheer them up, she continued.
"Now, Sin is finally dead." The crowd applauded. Smiling, Yuna continued.
"Now, Spira is ours again. Working together, now we can make new homes for ourselves, and new dreams." The people of Spira grew quiet. Yuna's guardians watched as she spoke with profound love for the people of Spira.
"Although I know the journey will be hard, we have lots of time. Together, we WILL rebuild Spira. The road is ahead of us, so let's start out today." The stadium echoed with the crowd's cheers.
Yuna turned so she could see her guardians' expressions.
Wakka, Lulu, Rikku, and Kimhari all stood behind her, as if they were still protecting her. Wakka gave Yuna the Zanarkand Abes victory sign, and not the Yevon prayer, as a show of good faith.
Smiling, Yuna kept her emotions under control, and turned back to face the people she had never thought she would have been able to see again.
'These people were saved not just by us, but by a dream created by the fayths. That dream saved them all, and brought upon the eternal calm. He saved me too...he never gave up on trying to save me from having to sacrifice myself...'
"Just, one more thing...The people and the friends that we have lost..." Yuna grew quieter.
"...Or the dreams that have faded..."
Yuna had memories flash then in her mind.
"Never forget them."
